How It All Started

We Launched on Kickstarter, and You Made It Happen.

It began with a simple question: why are so many beautiful kimonos forgotten? That question became a crowdfunding campaign, and it found people who believed in giving heritage a second life.

Why This Exists

Beautiful Kimonos Were Being Forgotten.

Growing up in Japan, I witnessed how much meaning a kimono carries. It represents celebrations, family history, and generations of craftsmanship.

But today, many sit quietly in closets, never worn again. Some are even discarded.

When I moved to America, I began thinking about how to share Japanese culture with the world in an accessible way. I wanted to create something people could wear every day.

I had almost no sewing experience. But I couldn't ignore the idea.

What We Make

A Modern T-Shirt with a Meaningful Pocket.

Each pocket is made from a vintage kimono fabric that once played a part in someone's story. These textiles carry tradition, celebration, and decades of cultural heritage.

By combining them with a simple, modern T-shirt, we create something that feels both timeless and easy to wear. Every piece is unique, and no two are exactly alike.

Our Process

How Each Shirt Comes to Life

01

From Japan to My Studio

Authentic vintage kimono are carefully sourced in Japan and selected for their craftsmanship, condition, and beauty before being brought to my studio in the United States.

02

Gentle Cleaning & Fabric Inspection

Each kimono is gently cleaned and thoroughly inspected for color bleeding, damage, and fabric integrity before moving forward.

03

Low-Temperature Pressing

The fabric is carefully pressed at a low temperature to preserve its delicate fibers while restoring its natural structure.

04

Precision Cutting

Each piece is individually measured and cut so the most beautiful parts of the kimono pattern are highlighted in the pocket design.

05

Reinforcement for Durability

A lightweight interfacing is applied to strengthen the fabric while keeping it soft, stable, and wearable over time.

06

Handcrafted Sewing

Each pocket is carefully sewn onto the T-shirt with precise stitching, ensuring clean alignment and refined finishing.

07

Final Quality Check

Every piece is inspected for stitching quality, pocket placement, and overall finish before it is approved for shipment.

08

Completion

A once-unworn kimono is thoughtfully transformed into a wearable piece, ready to begin its new life with you.
