The silk is divided into narrow vertical bands, each in its own shade of warm brown, and within them small trailing vines carry a mix of blossoms, berries, and leaves, no two panels quite the same. This kind of sectioned composition, known as dangawari, was traditionally used to let several small motifs share a single piece of cloth, and here it gathers flowers and berries from different seasons side by side rather than choosing just one moment in the year. Read together, the panels suggest a garden that never fully settles into a single season, each strip of color holding its own quiet corner of bloom.
