✦ THE STORY BEHIND THE OBI PATTERN ✦
Chō, the Butterfly
A large butterfly with wings in navy, vermilion, cream, and gold spreads across an olive gold ground, resting above red and white plum blossoms, while the back shows the butterfly framed by a soft ivory arc. In Japan the butterfly, or chō, is a symbol of transformation and long life, and it has long been a favorite motif for celebration obi. Bright and cheerful, this little pouch carries a gentle wish for happy changes.

Size: 4" x 1.5" x 4" · Handle Top 4" (Length x Width x Height x Handle Top)

The Obi Kiss-Lock Pouch is a palm-sized gamaguchi pouch handmade from a vintage Japanese obi, the decorative sash worn with a kimono. It is just the right size for coins and accessories, or for the small things that tend to get lost in a bag, such as keys, lip balm, and earbuds. With its detachable handle, it can also be clipped onto a handbag, tote, or backpack.

Made-in-Japan Kiss-Lock Clasp:
The clasp comes from a Japanese maker that specializes in gamaguchi frames, made in Japan from materials to finishing. We chose it for its quality, so the pouch opens and closes with a satisfying click for years to come.

Authentic Obi Fabric, Inside and Out:
The outside is cut from vintage obi silk, and the inside is lined with the obi's own lining fabric, so every part of the original textile is given a new life.

Detachable Handle:
A 4 inch handle with clips is included, so you can carry the pouch on its own or clip it onto the handle of your handbag, tote, or backpack. It adds a touch of Japanese style to the bag you already carry, and keeps your small essentials easy to find.

Handmade with Care:
Each pouch is made one by one by hand. Small differences in sewing or in the fabric are part of the handmade character, and we hope you will enjoy them as such.

Good Fortune for Every Day:
Traditional Japanese patterns carry wishes for happiness and good luck. We hope this pouch brings a quiet touch of Japanese warmth to the things you carry every day.

Please Note: Each pouch is one of a kind, and this exact obi pattern will not be available again once sold. The interpretation and symbolism of traditional motifs may also vary depending on cultural context and individual perspective.
