Obi Zipper Pouch – Gold Mokko

$45.00
✦ THE STORY BEHIND THE OBI PATTERN ✦
Mokkō, the Melon Flower Crest
Large three-lobed crests outlined in red and navy and filled with tiny white flowers rest on a rich metallic gold ground. This rounded shape, called mokkō, has been used in Japanese family crests and court textiles since ancient times and is said to bring prosperity to one's descendants. Bold and polished, this pouch shines with a sense of celebration.

Size: 11" x 0.5" x 8.5" (Length x Width x Height)

The Obi Zipper Pouch is a slim, flat zip pouch handmade from a vintage Japanese obi, the decorative sash worn with a kimono. Its generous size keeps documents, a notebook, a small tablet, cosmetics, or travel essentials neatly together, and it slips easily into a tote or carry-on.

One of a Kind / Upcycled Design:
Each pouch is truly one of a kind. Carefully crafted from vintage Japanese obi, every piece carries its own history, patterns, and character, beautifully reimagined into a modern accessory.

Authentic Obi Fabric:
Made using genuine obi fabric, originally designed to complement kimono, featuring intricate weaving and elegant patterns that cannot be replicated.

Sturdy & Fully Lined:
Obi silk is thick and strong, so the pouch keeps its shape and protects what is inside. It is fully lined and closes with a smooth top zipper.

Versatile Everyday Use:
Use it as a document case, a tablet sleeve, a cosmetic bag, or a travel organizer for your passport and tickets. It also works beautifully on its own as a clutch.

Handmade with Care:
Each pouch is made one by one by hand. Small differences in sewing or in the fabric are part of the handmade character, and we hope you will enjoy them as such.

Please Note: Each pouch is one of a kind, and this exact obi pattern will not be available again once sold. The interpretation and symbolism of traditional motifs may also vary depending on cultural context and individual perspective.
