The Beginning
It Started With My Grandmother’s Kimono.
My grandmother had beautiful kimonos that were no longer being worn. Seeing them sitting unused made me wonder how many other beautiful kimonos were facing the same fate.
Not because they had lost their beauty or meaning, but because there were fewer occasions to wear them in everyday life.
Then I asked myself:
“What if a kimono could become something we actually wear again?”
That question became Second Bloom Tokyo. Giving vintage kimono a second life.

Our first crowdfunding campaign was supported by 26 backers who believed in the idea of saving kimono and letting people express their story through what they wear.
Together, we surpassed our goal by 176%, proof of how many people resonated with this vision.
